Merlot

Merlot potato is a middle-late variety bred by German plant-breeders. The ripening period is 95-115 days, the harvest begins in mid or late September.
Description of the variety

 

This vegetable has an oval shape and a deep red mesh peel. Potatoes are of the same size; deep sprouts are visible on the surface. Average weight of one potato is 80-140 g. The pulp is yellow, quite resistant to darkening. An important parameter is the starch indicator (from 15.5% to 16.2%). It is not boiled soft, retains its color and smells good while cooking.

The one of the main features of Merlot potato variety is high disease resistance. Stable and high yield is observed with proper care. This variety can adapt to the soil and climate conditions of the growing region, it is adapted to long-term storage.

Potatoes are medium, closer to large size, the shape is oval. Tubers are covered with a dark red skin. About 10 or rarely 15 tubers grow on one bush. The inner part is yellow, hard.
